About WA State Youth of the Year
Washington State Youth of the Year is three days filled with events designed to provide educational and inspirational experiences for our finalists!
Program participants will arrive in Olympia on Tuesday, March 25th and gather at Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County for an evening program. On Wednesday morning, they’ll head to the Governor’s Mansion for breakfast. Teens then will engage with some of the corporate HR leaders to learn about interview techniques. Afterwards, everyone travels to Boys & Girls Clubs of King County where the teens will partake in speech prep at a local Club. For fun, the youth will experience a limo ride and tour the neighborhoods of Seattle, enjoying a tasty treat at Kerry Park and have the opportunity to take photos.
On Thursday, Club members will arrive at Bell Harbor International Event Center for speeches and interviews in front of a panel of esteemed judges. The winners will be announced at the dinner that will be attended by Club leaders, youth mentors and their families as well as Youth of the Year corporate sponsors. Each finalist will have the opportunity to share their personal story with the Celebration audience. All youth will receive a $500 scholarship, and several finalists will be recognized with additional merit scholarships.
