CHPW is the official Nutrition Partner of Washington Clubs. With their support, Clubs will focus on nutrition education and equipping youth with the skills necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle. Programs will emphasize health and wellness, including snack and meal programs, cooking programs, and nutrition education focusing on portion control, balanced diets, and making conscious healthy food choices. CHPW plan members receive a free membership to any WA Boys & Girls Club.

The PAXIS Institute is the organization behind some of our curriculum in helping youth: PAX Tools and PAX: Good Behavior Game. The latter is run at 9 Clubs across Washington and assists kids in their social emotional learning: how to handle conflict, and overall how to model good behavior. We know how well this curriculum works by the changes noted in our Club members. They are more focused, less likely to participate in negative behaviors, and more likely to help each other. Boys & Girls Clubs across Washington State regularly partner with the Department of Behavioral Health Resources – WA Healthcare Authority to promote drug and substance abuse prevention. Positive Action, an evidence-based program, is implemented at dozens of Boys & Girls Clubs across the state. The program teaches Club kids positive self-image and self-regulation skills that equip Club members with necessary resistance training to avoid use and abuse of drugs, alcohol and controlled substances.


“Creating a Culture of Wellness”
Washington Clubs work with UnitedHealthcare to carry out the ambitious undertaking of helping our Clubs create a Culture of Wellness – not just in the gym, games room or playing fields, but throughout the entire Club. This collaboration will help us ensure our Clubs are environments in which it’s easy for members to make healthy choices about nutrition and physical activity. UnitedHealthcare Community Plan plan members may receive a free membership to participate in Boys & Girls Clubs programs.

Since 2015, Boys & Girls Clubs in WA have partnered with WA OSPI on Academic Innovation and Mentoring (AIM) grant, that provides funds to youth development entities to assist with tutoring and mentoring in high-need, low-income communities. The majority of WA Clubs have had an opportunity to implement Project Learn, our national approach to Academic Success, or utilize a local academic support program to positively impact academic outcomes of their members. Social and emotional learning is also an important component of AIM, and equips our members with important interpersonal skills that have an impact on higher academic achievement.
Jackson Energy sponsors the Shell Giving Pump Program, where a portion of sales at a designated pump go straight to Boys & Girls Clubs across Washington and the Pacific Northwest.
